For businesses starting without a budget
Free GST billing software, with the limits written down
KhataZone Free has no time limit. It raises GST invoices, keeps stock, parties and ledgers, and never locks away the books you put into it. It is also capped, and this page says exactly where — so the limit you reach is one you knew about before you started.
- A plan with no end date, not a trial that runs out
- GST invoices on the free plan, with the tax worked out on every line
- The caps stated up front, counted the way the plan counts them
- A trial that ends, or a plan not renewed, lands on Free with every record kept
Free plan available · No card required to start · Works on phone and desktop
What “free” usually hides, and how it works here
How starting free actually goes
- 1
Sign up, and the trial starts
Create the account and enter your business details. For 14 days every feature is on, including the GST reports and print formats Free leaves out, so you can see whether you need them before anything is decided.
- 2
When the trial ends, Free begins
Overnight on the day the trial ends, the account moves to KhataZone Free and you are emailed that it has. Nothing is asked of you and nothing is removed.
- 3
Bill within the caps
Raise GST invoices and credit notes, record purchases, receipts and payments, keep stock and the party ledgers, and send bills on WhatsApp or as PDFs — from the shop's desktop or on your phone.
- 4
Move up when a cap or your CA says so
When the account nears 30 invoices, the shelf outgrows 50 products, or your CA asks for GSTR-1 or Tally XML, choose a plan from the pricing table. The account carries on from exactly where it was.
The free plan, in six lines
When a shop outgrows Free
Free is sized for getting started, and for a business that raises a handful of bills — a consultant invoicing a few clients, a side business, a shop keeping its books readable after the trial. A total of 30 invoices is not a counter's worth: a busy counter can pass that on its first day. It is better said here than found out on the second.
The reasons to move up are usually one of these. The invoice total runs out. The shelf passes 50 products. The CA asks for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, or for Tally XML. A thermal printer arrives at the counter, or a second godown opens. Every paid plan removes the invoice cap, raises the product, customer and supplier caps and lets you switch off the KhataZone line; GST reports, Tally export, thermal and A5 print with barcode labels, a second warehouse, profit reports, price levels and payment reminders are not on every paid plan, and the plan table in the pricing section shows which plan carries each.
What does not change is the account. Moving up is a change of plan, not a migration: the bills, the ledgers, the stock and the numbering are where they were. And if a paid plan later ends without being renewed, the account comes back to Free with all of it still there.
Frequently asked questions
- Is KhataZone really free, or is it a free trial?
- Both, one after the other. A new account starts on a 14-day trial with every feature on and no card asked for. When the trial ends, the account moves to KhataZone Free by itself, and Free has no time limit — you can stay on it for as long as its limits suit you.
- What are the limits of the free plan?
- Up to 30 invoices in total over the life of the account — not per month — and up to 50 products, 100 customers and 15 suppliers, with 1 warehouse. The built-in walk-in customer for counter sales is not counted among them. Records made during the trial count towards the caps, and a cancelled invoice still counts, as does a saved draft until it is deleted. The free plan's card in the pricing section shows the same figures, read from the plan itself.
- Can I make GST invoices on the free plan?
- Yes — the same GST invoice every plan makes, with CGST and SGST or IGST worked out per line and the HSN on each one, plus credit notes against them. GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, the HSN summary and the 2B match are not on Free; the Excel sales register, with the taxable value and tax of every bill and a line-item sheet carrying HSN and rate, is what you hand your CA instead.
- What happens when I reach the invoice limit?
- A new invoice is refused with a message that the plan's limit has been reached, and so is turning a quotation, sales order or delivery challan into one. Nothing else stops: the invoices you have still open, print and share, payments against them still record, purchases and receipts carry on, and the registers still download. Any paid plan lifts the invoice cap.
- Will I lose my data if I don't pay when the trial ends?
- No. Nothing is deleted when the trial ends — the account moves to Free with every invoice, item, customer, supplier and ledger as it was. If what you made during the trial is already over one of the caps, all of it stays; only adding more of that kind is refused on Free.
- Does the free plan put KhataZone's name on my invoices?
- Yes, one line at the foot of each bill: “Bill made with KhataZone · khatazone.com”. Free and the trial always print it. A paid plan can switch it off in Settings.
- Which paid plan should I move to?
- The one that has what you ran out of. The plan table in the pricing section lists every cap and feature plan by plan, read from the plans themselves rather than copied into a page like this one. Moving up keeps the same account and everything in it.
